About Rogues of Clwyd-Rhan

Rogues of Clwyd-Rhan is an epic, character-driven humorous fantasy comic. If you like Elf Life, Clan of the Cats or the work of Terry Pratchett, you'll probably enjoy Rogues of Clwyd-Rhan as well.

Characters and stories

Rogues of Clwyd-Rhan has a large cast of characters. For more information on them, see the cast pages. The core characters are Kel, a half-elven witch; Tamlin, the head of the former bandit gang; Ragnarok, the swordswoman who makes the real decisions in the group; the witch Atra; and Jake the Gnome. Tamlin has been missing since the Corby Tribe storyline.

The series began quite simply, with stories about the exploits of a gang of rogues in the forest of Clwyd-Rhan. It has evolved into a sprawling tapestry of storylines which often take the scenic route to their endings.

Story Milestones

I am in the middle of republishing the storylines that were made before I started publishing online in English in 2000. I am also making new stories to insert into the existing chronology. Roughly, this is the order in which major stories are best read:

The latest storyline is a very old one. It's the very earliest one, drawn in 1991. It shows the original gang of four bandits, Tamlin, Ragnarok, Jake and Atra, on their quest for the Belt that will give them invincibility. When the serialisation is finished, Green Man's Belt will be moved to the beginning of the archives.

Brewery from 1995 is an unusual story. It was guest-drawn ten years ago by the very talented Remco Polman. I may be working with him again soon.

In The Stone of Contention, a forthcoming solar eclipse is making the members of the gang jittery. The witch Atra wants to go to a large Sabbath on the occasion of the eclipse, and Jake the Gnome is building some sort of infernal machine. Are there forces at work that they can't control?

Guðrún from 2000 was the first story published in English. It marks a new career for the Rogues as they travel to Iceland as mercenaries to free the duchess of Dungill Fens, who has been kidnapped.

In the 2001 storyline Dolphins and Dragons, Kel seeks the aid of a dragon to help cure her nightmares.

The Rite of Serfdom ran from 2002 to 2005 and is one of the longest single storylines in webcomics. It shows Kel returning to the land of her ancestors to return a long-lost relic. But she's not getting the reception she was hoping for.
