My e-reader (Cybook Gen3) has only wired connections to the outside world, so that Amazon gaffe won’t wash here.

I’ve unlocked all of the .mobi, .epub and .azw files I bought, and a very nice piece of software called Calibre can convert from one to the other, so I guess I’m pretty safe.

For a given value of safe, of course.

I don’t see myself switching to e-readers any time soon unless I get assurances that I own the content on it. I can forgive Amazon’s 1984 stunt but I won’t soon forget it.

Besides, most of my Brunner-crack is not available on e-reader, to the best of my knowledge.

I’d be interested but using an e-reader for the past two years or so has thoroughly decluttered my living space of dead trees.

Not dead plants, though.
