What I wrote about this at the time:

Officially, Decemboobs is over as it only runs through the days of the Advent this year. This makes sense as many people will have busy social calendars at this time of year. I sure do, but I’m not going to let that stop me. Boxing Day has been a day of recovery from all the eating, drinking and making merry of the past weekend, and I got this drawing done.

This is Sophia Cahill, modeling a hat in 2012 when she was 8 months pregnant. There were other models on the catwalk at the same time who were nude except for their hats, but the former Miss Wales stole the show and became the focus of several news reports, most of which show censor bars. Luckily, Metro’s did not. I don’t recall if the Daily Mail did, but I’m in no mood to give them a click today, even though I probably did find the original photo there back in 2012.

I love the composition of the source photo, the double S-curve running from her head to her thigh, complemented by the shape of her breasts and belly, and the curve of the brim of her hat, framed by her arm, in a position that looks natural but really isn’t, if you look closely. As I drew it, I struggled a bit and had to use my eraser more than I should. I blame the eating, drinking and making merry. IT turned out all right in the end. The face isn’t quite accurate; at some point its sardonic grin made me think of Carrie Fisher, which was not deliberate but didn’t bother me in the slightest. Ms. Fisher has been in my thoughts, lately.

Couple of group images coming next, including a record sleeve and an image that has become a bit of a Decemboobs staple, what with several artists having already used it. Yep, I’m confident enough now to invite direct comparisons with some of the great artists who have been taking part (you’ll have to go to Facebook to find them – very little is going on on Tumblr or DeviantArt this year).

The reference link still works. I never did the images I announced in the final paragraph.
