Inktober 2018, Day 12: Whale

Day 12:

Digital drawing of a majestic creature of the sea, surrounded by other sea creatures.
A majestic creature of the sea, surrounded by other sea creatures.

What I wrote about this at the time:

It’s my day off, so I may have spent a little more time on this one than on others. Indian ink on illustration board; colored entirely in Autodesk Sketchbook on iPad. I considered using colored inks for this one but I decided to save those for a simpler drawing that’s otherwise more in my comfort zone. Some reference was used for the whale, but given the constraints of #inktober I decided it was not a good idea to study the reference extensively; it was more a matter of ‘what did those things look like, again’ and then on to drawing.
When your prompt is ‘Whale’, you get on with it. Why try for anything original or clever when you can just draw the whale?

There are still things I would have done differently about this, especially the placement of some of the other sea creatures. But this was overall pretty close to what I had in mind.
