The Perfume Genius. Dexter the Dog was born blind and what’s left of his vision is now being destroyed by cataracts. It’d be inaccurate to say that his other senses have become more acute to help him navigate the world, but he has definitely trained himself to use them better than a sighted dog would. Unfortunately for his owners, one of the things he uses his well-trained nose for is finding the most exquisite dog perfumes nature offers. For everyday use, fox scat is a timeless, rugged classic that you cannot go wrong with. The more penetrating bouquet of week-old dead seagull forms a perfect accompaniment for outdoor activities on chilly but sunny winter afternoons. But his all time favorite, the one that add frisson and excitement to those unforgettable special occasions, is cormorant shit. Dexter is a true connoisseur and wants his entire human and canine family to benefit from his expertise.
I saw this shoe drawing tutorial on DeviantArt the other day and I thought some of its principles would also apply to drawing dogs, so I drew this dog starting with box shapes in perspective. I’ll need to do it again because it does make a difference how well you select your perspective grid, and I didn’t quite get that foundation right. Nor am I happy with the coloring in this case.
